🎬The Format Playbook

TL;DR: She reads. He answers spicy in 6 words. No music, no tripod, hard cut on her reaction.

The format is a quiz. The art is the answer. The setup is two people on a couch or sitting at a table and a phone on a tripod or leaning on something.

The 7 Rules

1️⃣ She reads. He answers. 94% of gold reels have the woman reading the questions. His answer + her reaction is the engine.

2️⃣ The right answer is the spicy one, delivered like the truth. In 81% of viral reels, a safe answer would have killed it. Pick the unexpected take. Under 6 words, deadpan, no smirk.

3️⃣ No music. Ever. 0% of mega-viral reels have music. Naked audio is the format.

4️⃣ Nobody holds anything. Phone propped, no tripods. 100% of gold has the phone propped on a surface. 0% uses a tripod. Couch backdrop, medium shot, both partners in frame.

5️⃣ The question is on screen the whole time. Two methods: A (overlay) or B (pour gimmick). See Walkthrough below.

6️⃣ Hook in the first 2 seconds. First words out of her mouth = the question. No "hey guys", no "today we're trying". Question one IS frame one.

7️⃣ End on the reaction. Hard cut. Don't wave. Don't say "comment below". When her reaction lands, stop recording.

The 5 Viral Answer Archetypes

Pick one per video.

⚠️ The #1 mistake: Laughing through it. The tension IS the product. If you laugh, there's nothing to fight about in the comments.

Watch this before you film: @ariellelovezzdylan, 7.2M views. Note how he says "I'll wait 10 years to be sure" in 9 words, deadpan, no smirk.

The Walkthrough

One-Time Setup

The couch setup (for both methods)

• Pick a corner of your couch. Both fit in a medium shot.
• Recording phone on the coffee table, leaning on a book or cup. Or wedged between two cushions. Don't use a tripod.
• Lamp behind the camera. Not overhead. (Warm indoor lighting in 76% of gold.)
• Open Amora, Settings, toggle Creator Mode.

🎬 Method A — Overlay (Simpler, 5 min setup) That's it for setup. You'll screen-record the quiz separately and composite in CapCut.

💧 Method B — Pour gimmick (More viral, 10 min setup)

• 2 cups in front of you
• Sticky note labels (e.g. "CHEATING" / "DISRESPECTFUL")
• Pitcher of water (or juice for color)
• Towel for spills

Before You Hit Record

The 4-step check (2 min per question):

1. What's the EXPECTED answer? (the "right boyfriend" answer)
2. What's the OPPOSITE? That's your candidate.
3. Test the temperature. Spicy wins, nuclear feels try-hard.
4. Reduce it to 6 words or less.

Then forget you did this. Deliver it like you just thought of it on camera.

Recording — Method A (Overlay)

1. Open Amora, pick a 🥇 gold-tier quiz, screen-record yourself flipping through the questions.
2. Stop the screen recording.
3. Prop the phone on the coffee table. Hit camera record. Film with vertical space above your faces.
4. She reads question one out loud. No intro.
5. He answers. Under 6 words, fast, deadpan.
6. She reacts.
7. Q2, Q3, max Q5. Aim for 25 to 35 seconds.
8. Stop on her strongest reaction. Hard cut.
9. In CapCut: import the screen recording, crop to top ~30%, drop as overlay over couch footage.

Recording — Method B (Pour gimmick)

1. Open Amora, pick a 🥇 gold-tier quiz. Write the A/B options on the cup labels.
2. Prop the phone on the coffee table. Hit record.
3. She reads question one out loud. No intro.
4. He answers, but the answer is THE POUR. Pours water/juice into the chosen cup. Verbal answer optional and short.
5. She reacts to the pour.
6. Q2, Q3, max Q5. Save the biggest reaction for the final question: chug, overflow, or dramatic pour.
7. Hard cut on her reaction.
8. In CapCut: drop the question text as a plain banner at the top for each segment.

Posting

Caption (under 90 chars, gold median was 86):

"wait did he really say this 😭" "is it cheating if you do this 🤨"

Hashtags (5 max): #couples #couplequiz #wouldyourather #relationshiptest #amora

Tag @amora.app in caption AND in the video (sticker top corner).

Post on both TikTok AND IG Reels, same day. A video only counts toward your weekly target once it's crossposted to both.

Best time: evening, your audience's timezone (US 7 to 10pm ET). (Best-practice, not a hard rule.)

After Posting

• Reply to your own comments, especially the first 5 to 10 in the first 30 minutes.
• Don't pin a comment. Let the chaos breathe.
• 100k by hour 2 = winner. Drop a Vol 2 of the same quiz next session.
• Flopped? Post the next one tomorrow. Don't change the format.
• Two or more flops in a row? Ping the Discord. Riley will sanity-check.

Anti-Patterns

🚫 The things that kill the video:

• "Hey guys, today we're gonna try…" → 10-second intro = scroll past
• Background music → kills the tension audio
• Laughing through every question → no debate in comments
• Subtitles on top of the question card → visual clutter
• "Comment below!" CTA → drops retention
• Tripod / cinematic angle → looks like an ad
• Either of you holding the camera → 100% of gold has it propped
• Kitchen / outdoor settings → couches outperform
• Both partners equally asking → the male reaction is the engine
• Long, explanatory answers → median viral answer is 6 words
• "…just kidding!" after the spicy answer → kills the rage-bait
• Smirking after you nail the punchline → reads as performed
• Reading off a script → energy dies, deadpan becomes bored

🤔 Why Each Rule Exists (read once, refer back if curious)

Rule 1. She reads. He answers.

94% of gold reels (1M+) have the woman reading aloud, vs 73% in silver. The male hesitation or controversial answer IS what audiences debate. The implicit narrative ("she's testing him on screen") does the work.

Rule 2. The viral answer, delivered like truth

This is the deepest rule. Get this wrong and nothing else matters.

Data from 17 gold reels (57 individual answers, 48 audience-pleasing moments):

• 81% of viral moments: a safe answer would have killed engagement
• Median 6 words per viral answer. Long explanations dilute.
• 96% delivered fast (instant or brief pause). 0% long hesitations.
• 56% felt genuinely authentic, 33% chosen-but-well-delivered, 10% performed.
• Spicy (54%) beats nuclear (17%). Nuclear reads as try-hard.

The Wait 10 Years case study. Three of the 17 gold reels used the "Marry me tomorrow or wait 10 years to be sure?" hook. All three had the man choose "wait 10 years." Every question has an expected answer (the romantic one). Viral creators pick the unexpected one with confidence.

The 4 tells that BREAK authenticity:

• ❌ Smirking after the answer. Shows you knew it would land.
• ❌ Answering before she finishes reading. Reveals pre-meditation.
• ❌ Telegraphing the gimmick. Makes the pour feel staged.
• ❌ Rapid-fire extreme answer every time. Audience clocks the pattern by Q3.

Rule 3. No music. Ever.

0% of 17 gold reels use music. Silver creeps to 24%. General TikTok advice says "use trending sounds". Wrong for this niche. Silence between question and answer is the production value.

Rule 4. Camera locked off. Nobody holds anything.

100% of gold reels are shot with a static, propped phone. 100% medium-shot, both partners in frame. 71% are in the living room. The lo-fi look IS the credibility. A tripod makes it look like an ad. Gold uses 0%, silver uses 15%.

Rule 5. Question on screen the whole time

Method A (overlay): the Amora card is on-screen 100% of the video. 47% of gold. Method B (pour gimmick): the question text is overlaid in post, usually only during that specific question segment. The cups + pour are the dominant visual. 53% of gold, tends to outperform.

Rule 6. Hook in 2 seconds.

The algorithm decides in 0 to 3 seconds. 100% of gold has a "strong" 3-second hold. If you intro, retention drops below the 70% completion threshold for "potential viral", so the algo kills your reach.

Rule 7. Hard cut.

76% of gold reels hard-cut on the reaction. 0% have a closing wave. 47% have no final gesture at all. Cliffhanger > closure.

Watch each twice. Notice the answer, not just the question.

Format FAQ

How often should I post? 15+ videos per week. The rhythm is 3 per day, 5 days per week. Each video crossposted to both TikTok and Instagram (counts as one video toward your weekly target, not two).

TikTok or IG first? Both, same day. Same video file. Different caption if you want. Crossposting is required. A video that only lives on one platform doesn't count.

Best posting time? Evening, your audience's timezone. (Best-practice, not a hard rule.)

Method A or Method B? Method A is simpler. Method B is more viral. Start with Method A for your first few videos to nail the answer-delivery skill, then upgrade to Method B once you're hitting silver consistently.

What if it flops? Don't change the format. Post the next one. One flop = variance. Two or three in a row = something specific is off. Ping the Discord and Riley will sanity-check.

Can I reuse a question? Yes, especially if Vol 1 hit 100k+.

Partner won't be on camera? This format needs both of you. Not the right format for you if so.

What if my actual answer IS the safe one? Then play a character. Pick the spicy answer and commit. 33% of viral answers were "chosen but well-delivered". The audience can't tell as long as you don't smirk.

Filters? Effects? No. 100% of gold is raw footage.
