A simple, beautiful experience designed for two
The 36 questions come from a 1997 study by psychologist Arthur Aron. They’re designed to create closeness between two people through gradually escalating self-disclosure. The questions are divided into three sets that move from light topics to deep vulnerability.
Research shows that mutual vulnerability and self-disclosure build intimacy. While the original study focused on strangers, many couples have found that these questions deepen their existing connection by encouraging conversations they might not otherwise have.
Most couples complete all 36 questions in 45 minutes to 1.5 hours, plus a 4-minute eye contact exercise at the end. There’s no rush, take as much time as you need with each question.
Absolutely! While the original study was designed for strangers, these questions are even more powerful for existing couples. They help you discover things about your partner you might never have thought to ask.
